Campaign Amargosa
The Amargosa Opera House has always lived in balance with the desert β a place of breathtaking beauty but also harsh extremes. Storms here have never been gentle, but in the past they came less often. Since Hurricane Hillary in 2023, however, they have become more frequent, battering the Opera House and hotel with each passing season. Water seeps into hotel rooms, pools in the Opera House itself, and eats away at the fragile adobe walls that hold Marta Becketβs murals. Each cleanup is costly, every repair drains our resources further, and the weight of these repeated blows is threatening our future.
Yet we remain resilient β just as Marta did for fifty years on her stage. We continue to repair damage, pursue long-term flood mitigation, and work tirelessly to keep the Opera House open as a cultural oasis for visitors from around the world. But resilience alone is not enough. Without immediate support, the cycle of storms and financial strain is pushing this historic landmark to the brink. By standing with us now, you ensure that Martaβs vision β and the community she created in Death Valley Junction β will continue to endure, no matter how hard the desert storms try to silence it.
