End-of-Year Fundraising Update — Thank You for Carrying Us Through 2025

As we close out 2025, we want to share an update on our fundraising efforts — and, more importantly, to say thank you.

In late 2025, we launched Campaign Amargosa with an initial goal of $50,000 to help the Amargosa Opera House weather another difficult season. At the time of our last homepage update, we had raised just over $18,000. Thanks to the generosity of our community, we have now raised more than $70,000 — an extraordinary show of support that continues to sustain this desert gem.

We could not have done this without you.

Support came from many directions: longtime friends who have stood with the Opera House for decades, new supporters discovering this place for the first time, people giving $10, people giving much more, and people choosing to give regularly. Every donation, every message, and every shared story mattered. Together, that collective support kept us moving forward through floods, emergency repairs, temporary hotel closures, and the ongoing work of caring for a fragile historic site in a challenging desert environment.

This year’s fundraising has helped us respond to immediate needs, keep staff working, operate the hotel when possible (our primary source of revenue), and begin planning for the longer-term work ahead. While there is still much to do, we are deeply heartened by the support surrounding the Opera House and by the reminder that this artistic oasis — a true gem in the desert — continues to inspire so many people.

“We love this magical place!”  – Steven & Richard
“We love the opera house and want to do whatever we can to make sure it’s still there the next time we return.” – Charles and Karalee
“I love this geographic region and this most special place and Marta's story. It is all very rich and precious to me … I appreciate all that you do more than mere words can fully convey. Best wishes as we move into the future of Amargosa Opera House and Hotel and DVJ.” – Dan
“This is a building worth saving!” – Claudia
“Such a magical place 🧡” – Kime

The hard work continues, but your support keeps us going.

Thank you to longtime supporters of Marta: Jim Marsh and Susan Houston and Lothian (and Red) Skelton

And to new supporters who found us via the Wonderhussy Adventures travel video

From all of us at the Amargosa Opera House, thank you for standing with us through 2025. We move into the new year with gratitude, resolve, and hope — because of you.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our supporters, we’ve raised over $18,000 toward recovery and stabilization efforts. Funds are being used immediately to repair the Opera House floor, damaged in the most recent floods, while also helping to cover essential monthly expenses — utilities, insurance, and payroll — that keep our small team and this historic landmark running.

Each gift has made an immediate impact, allowing us to continue welcoming visitors while planning long-term preservation — including roof repairs and future flood-mitigation work. Together, we’re keeping Marta’s legacy and Death Valley Junction alive, ensuring the Amargosa Opera House stands strong for generations to come. 💛

Rising Above the Floods:
Help Us Keep Marta's Legacy Alive

Floodwaters have struck Death Valley Junction again, seeping into the Opera House, hotel rooms, and across the property. 💧

Each storm takes its toll, but we remain determined to protect Marta Becket’s beloved stage and murals. With reserves nearly gone, your support today is more critical than ever to repair damage, safeguard the historic adobe walls, and keep this cultural oasis alive for future generations. 🌟
